Shop My Console Table

Being practical while trying to fully decorate a home is really hard! I’ve bought way too many things along the way and have regretted some purchases in the past year. I’m really trying to focus on ONLY buying something that I LOVE. I get sucked into looking at someone’s Amazon storefront and adding 10 items to my cart just because they are pretty. I have to stop and ask, where will this fit in my home? Do I actually love it, or is it just easily accessible and pretty?

Do you need to fill a blank wall in your home? Well, grab a measuring tape and let’s get started! I am always carrying around a measuring tape while decorating because I want to make sure the proportions are appropriate for the space, especially when it comes to furniture.

This blank wall is in a walkway through the living room, so I needed to make sure the table was not too wide. It fit here perfectly while still leaving plenty of room to walk through. This table measures 16″D x 63″W x 32″H, which ended up being just right for the space.

I’m not able to link everything in this photo, but I wanted to give you an idea of how I achieved this look. I first purchased a photo on Etsy that had a lot of the colors in our home décor. I have leaned into green, blue, and pink mostly, so this picture seems to fit right in. Once I received that art print, I took it to Hobby Lobby and picked out the frame. They framed it for me, and it took around a week. They did a great job, and I would absolutely recommend finding a photo that you love and having it professionally set in any frame that you choose. It’s easy to go to HomeGoods, Target, or TJ Maxx to find a picture already in a frame, but I figured I’d end up making an impulsive purchase and not choosing something that I truly love. I tend to do that, and I’m doing my best to stop, think, and make a better decision for the long term.

The lamps are next! So, I’m not totally crazy about these lamps that I have here. I have a plan to replace them and I’ll share that when it’s finished. I have to remind myself that you can’t decorate everything right away, it takes time. I do love these lamps, but I just think this is not the best place for them. I bought them at HomeGoods while we were still building and had NO IDEA where I planned on putting them, but I knew I needed them somewhere—and that is still the case.

You’re going to notice that I have a love/love relationship with fake flowers. I love them, but so does Emma. She loves to eat them. So I’ll show you the staged fake flowers that I’ve purchased for our home, but I’ll also be honest and tell you that they stay in a closet unless we are having company over. Also, I would LOVE to have real plants in our home, but I’m sure you can imagine what Emma would do considering she even likes to eat the fake ones. Anyway, I found this vase at HomeGoods and purchased the fake tulips from Amazon. The tulips are so pretty and from far away, they look real. They are bright and vibrant and I feel like they add a nice pop of color to the table.

I like how I was able to break the console up into three sections. I think an interior designer would say that this table is a bit too busy, and I don’t disagree. But for the moment, I like how it is styled! I have a cluster of picture frames and a little box to hold remotes or anything small to hide away. The box was found at HomeGoods, along with one of the picture frames and a few are linked below. Picture frames are so much fun and you can find the perfect ones to fit your style. Again, I’ve tried to keep the blue, green, and pink colors throughout the home.

The candlestick holders are some of my favorites. I’ve purchased a few different ones before landing on these, and I love them. They are very heavy and great quality. I made sure to purchase a large pack of candlesticks because I’ve noticed that these tend to fade. The ones I have are currently a pale pink, but I’d say they are just looking pale at the moment and need to be replaced.

We can’t forget the cozy place below where I was able to get some baskets to fit perfectly! Once again, I recommend measuring to ensure that things fit how you expect them to. I added some blankets that we had around the house to make them look full and cozy. Bonus pic of Boo, below. The cats tend to find themselves cozied up in the blankets for some nice naps.

But is it practical?

Worth bringing home if: You have a blank space you’ve measured and planned for, and you’ve found something you truly LOVE that works there.

Probably skip it if: You’re buying something just because it’s pretty or easily accessible and you don’t actually know where it’s going to go.

Now, to go hide those tulips in the closet before Emma finds them…
